Little Prayers

God answered my youngest sons prayers today. I know our kids pray for goofy things sometimes but to them they are HUGE.
Casey had a track meet at his school & the 1st & 2nd place kids were going to get to go to one of the local high schools to challenge other schools. He just REALLY wanted to be able to qualify to go.
He asked me on Saturday if that was something he could pray about. Well of course I said "yes", along with "you can pray about anything". So he did. He took second place is his race. He's so excited. He told me how that he prayed again just before the race. It's such a comfort to see God working in my kid's lives. How He answers even the simple things that kids pray for.
It brought to my mind how that the day after Casey was born I sat it the rocking chair holding him, crying, & begging God to plant the seed of faith in his heart.

Working 9 to 5

Ok, well, it's 7:30 to 3 but you get the idea. That's why I haven't been around the blog scene much. I was asked by a local school to be the proctor for a state wide test. Wow what a life change to HAVE to go to work everyday. I'm not use to this. The getting up early isn't a big deal. But what gets me is that my household chores are falling behind. I don't like it that I'm at work thinking about all of the stuff I NEED to be doing at home. But, it is for a good cause.

Back in December we noticed that the 13 year old dishwasher we had wasn't getting the dishes as clean anymore, so we bought a new one. The next day the stove overheated & wouldn't shut off unless we flipped the breaker. Needless to say that had to go! So we bought a new stove. Not a cheap one either. I'm not the only cook in this family. Damon loves to cook so not only did I have a list of thing that I wanted in a new stove, so did he. Combine those two lists & it added up to one expensive stove.

When I was offered the job I jumped on it because it would be a huge help in paying those two things off. I don't like having bills & if I can help get any of them paid off, I'm all for it.

20 Years

On this day 20 years ago Damon & I were married. Looking back I remember when our 5th anniversary came. We thought "Wow 5 years, that's sooo long to be married." Then we hit the double digits. 10 years, that's like, forever! Now 20!!!

Over our 20 years of marriage I've always ask Damon not to buy me flowers. It just seemed like the money could go to something more useful. You know, like, a pair of really great shoes!!! All these years he did what I requested, he never bought me flowers. Well to my surprise I came home to find these on my front porch. I never expected it!!! And I'm not even disappointed!!

I really love the flowers, but most of all I love it that he bought them for me to say how much he loves me.

We didn't do anything great today. I didn't have to work today, which I was suppose to but I know God worked that out, & so he took the day off too & we just hung out together. We ran a few errands & went out for lunch. It was a great day!!

Damon, I love you so very much. God brought us together & what a wonderful match-maker He is.

How time flies

Oh how the time has gotten away from me. Bear with me if you can.

Sunday the 30th of March, Damon left for 5 days for some training for his job. I was truly depressed that he was gone. I was having to deal with some issues with my parents (they are not in the faith) that I wouldn't have EVER dreamt that I would have to deal with. With Damon being gone & not accessible for me to talk to I felt very alone.

During that time I had a 3 day job at one of the local high schools. This particular teacher always requests me for a sub & had me scheduled for this job way back in October 2007. I really do like subbing but sometimes the "teenage attitude" gets exhausting.

Thursday night Damon came home. YEAH!!!!

Friday we went to a field trip with our youngest son where we stood ALL DAY in the cold. (So much for those nice spring days)

Saturday was football sign-ups. I'm on the executive committee of the football organization so I'm pretty much required to be there all day. So again standing ALL DAY.

Sunday I could not get moving. My body ached. (wow do I sound old, wait, it gets better)

Monday morning came, I couldn't walk. Literally. About 3 months ago I think I tore my hip flexor muscle & I haven't healed completely. It hurt to put weight on that leg & I couldn't lift it in the manner that you do when you walk. Let me tell you, this was fun since I have a 2 story house. I was almost thinking it would be easier to go down the stairs on my back side. Going back up was a little more challenging & very infrequent.

Monday night was awful. I would only sleep for an hour or so then would have to roll over, but I couldn't do it by myself. My dear hubby was having to get up & help me. I felt so helpless.

Tuesday morning comes. Some of the pain was starting to subside. Damon, who was suppose to be gone to work by now, comes into the bedroom to tell me that the headlights on his pickup aren't working & that he will have to take my vehicle. That's ok I tell him.
Then . . . I realize, I need to take my oldest to school. Not a big deal you say, it will be light by then you won't need headlights. True. But . . here's the problem, I'm having problems lifting my leg to walk & now face the challenge to lift my leg high enough to get into the truck. The running boards are as high as my knee caps!!! So here we are, me & my sons, trying to get mom in the truck, with a step ladder. What a video that would have made!! I think the boys wanted to bust up laughing at me but felt too bad for me so they just kept their silence.

So now to the miracle. I got up this morning without pain! I am able to walk fine. I'm sure all of you aren't strangers to laying in bed at night praying constantly to God for mercy. It seems we all go through it at some point in our lives if not every night. I'm no stranger myself to pain. I live with it almost daily, but this was a lot more pain than I usually have. I did pray constantly & God heard & answered my prayers. I feel so comforted, I'm even crying now as I write this, that God saw fit to not only ease my pain but to take it away completely.

Archery Outing

Before our boys were born, Damon use to do archery hunting. When he decided he didn't have the time for it anymore he sold his bow. Now that the boys are older we thought it would be something that they (and even maybe me) can do together. After all these years, he still has the touch for shooting a bow!!

David has been learning about archery in school, so he did very well. First day out he & dad were having contest to see who could shoot better then the other.

This was Casey's first time shooting a bow. I think he did a great job. He hit the target, most of the time. With some fine tuning help from dad, he'll get it.

Spring

The birds are singing. The sun is occasionally popping out from behind some high, thin clouds. It really is, to me, a beautiful day. This winter brought quite a lot of snow, although it's the snowfall I remember growing up here. I do love the snow, but every year about this time I start to get antsy for spring. I've noticed daffodils & crocus starting to make their way up through the ground. My peony tree has buds on it. The grass is starting to green. It will be nice to get outside & enjoy some outdoor time with my family. What a great day the Lord has made!

First Blog

Ok, so here it goes. My first posting on my blog site. I've been in the shadows reading some of the brethrens blogs & it looked like fun. So I've decided to take a step out into the world of blogging. A little about me: I live in Idaho. I'm a third generation, native Idahoan. The Lord called me to serve Him when I was at the tender age of barely 15. I'm married to a wonderful man 20 years next month!! We have 2 boys that are truly blessings & miracles. They both are into sports. Football mostly. Most of my married life I've been a stay at home mom. About 4 years ago I started substitute teaching. It's a great job because I can pick the days I want to work. The Lord has blessed my family in so many ways & I'm excited to get the chance to share these blessings through my blog site. I do hope to make some long time new "Sister Friends" as well as keep up with the cherished Sisters I've known for years.
